I am a level 3 sports massage therapist and I use a combination of massage techniques to alleviate muscular tension and enhance overall wellbeing. Whether preparing for an event, recovering afterward, or simply addressing everyday stress and tension, each session is personalised to meet your individual needs. With a strong focus on promoting muscle function and relaxation, you can expect a rejuvenating experience that prioritises comfort and health.
Sports massage can benefit EVERYONE (you don't have to do sport)! They can be carried out routinely (maintenance massages) e.g., every few weeks, pre event or recovery post event. A sports massage is always tailored to each individual's unique needs.
Massage is believed to have a neurophysiological effect on the body - it calms the nervous system..
It can relieve muscle tension, provide stress relief, and promote overall wellbeing.
Massage can help improve flexibility or joint range of motion. It can be more effecive in combination with other interventions such as mobility exercises, stretching and strength and movement work.
A recovery massage can reduce muscle soreness and fatigue after exercise or events. (For the best effects it should be combined with other recovery strategies, such as stretching, rest, good nutrition and exercise).
Please note that as a level 3 sports massage therapist I am unable to assess, diagnose or treat injuries. In these cases you may benefit from seeing your GP, or a physiotherapist or osteopath.
Please also keep in mind that some medical conditions or injuries may affect the suitability of massage. This is why your medical history is discussed, starting with your consultation form. Feel free to reach out for guidance or consult your healthcare professional for advice.
Here are some things to consider and be aware of after your massage.
Massage works by calming your nervous system, which is why you may feel sleepy, relaxed, or mentally clearer afterwards.
Light soreness or tiredness may occur; if it does, it usually settles within 24–48 hours.
Stay hydrated according to your usual needs.
You may find you sleep better, as some research shows massage can help with sleep and stress.
Massage can create a window of comfort. Do what feels good for your body and use it in whatever way feels best: a walk, some stretching, or some relaxed downtime.
Together we complete an assessment and consultation to identify your medical history, lifestyle, and reason for visiting so that the best massage treatment can be applied. During the massage you will usually lie on a massage table, and you will be asked to wear shorts or underwear (bra ideally with a back fastening clip), and you will be covered by a towel, apart from the area that is being treated. The pressure will be adapted to suit your needs.
